About The Project
Maw Civil Marine delivered a suite of coastal protection works along the Cowes East Foreshore for Bass Coast Shire Council, including the construction of a 340- metre-long rock revetment wall and eight timber groynes between Rose Avenue and Coghlan Road. The works were designed to stabilise the shoreline, reduce erosion, and improve public safety and amenity along the busy coastal strip.
Working within an environmentally sensitive area, Maw Civil Marine implemented strict environmental management controls, protecting native vegetation and applying erosion and sediment control measures to minimise impact. The team also overcame challenging weather and tidal conditions through detailed planning, sequencing, and coordination of works around tide cycles.
The completed works delivered a robust, long-term coastal protection system complemented by new public amenities including stairs, seating,
and an emergency access track—enhancing both the resilience and community accessibility of the Cowes East Foreshore.
